Flávio Campos de Morais
Flávio Campos de Morais is a Visiting Researcher at the Department of Sociology of Sport and Health at the University of Göttingen, under the guidance of Dr. Martin Minarik and the supervision of Dr. Jan Haut.
Since 2013, he has occupied the position of Full Professor at the Federal University of Pernambuco (Brazil), at the Academic Center of Vitória, where he teaches in both Bachelor’s and Teacher Education programmes in Physical Education. Since 2011, he has coordinated the outreach project entitled “Aging with Quality”, the objective of which is to promote health and well-being among older adults.
Professor Campos de Morais has accumulated more than 25 years of experience in the field of teaching ballroom dance, including a wide variety of styles such as samba de gafieira, bolero, tango, milonga, forró, and salsa. His research interests encompass a range of dance in physical education, the sociocultural dimensions of dance, dance and neuroscience, and dance in the context of successful aging.
He holds a degree in Physical Education from the Federal University of Pernambuco. He subsequently completed his Master’s degree in Human Health and Environment at the same institution, with a dissertation entitled “Impact of Ballroom Dance on Blood Pressure, Physical Fitness, and Quality of Life in Hypertensive Elderly Women.” He subsequently earned his Ph.D. in Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (UFPE), with a thesis entitled “Effects of a Systematized Dance Program on Indicators of Successful Aging and Biomarkers of Redox Balance in Elderly Women.”
