Paula Reich
Paula Reich completed her bachelor's degree in Organic Farming at the University of Kassel, where she analyzed the genealogical structures of an Icelandic sheep population in relation to production traits as part of her bachelor's thesis. She then completed her master's degree in Equine Science at the Georg-August University of Göttingen with a thesis on molecular genetic studies of tobiano spotting and bristling in the Icelandic horse. During her studies, she placed a particular focus on the breeding and genetics of farm animals and remained committed to this field during her doctoral studies. She wrote her dissertation entitled "Application of imputed sequence-level genotypes to genomic analyses in German Warmblood horses" in the "Functional Breeding - Genetics and Breeding Improvement of Functional Traits" department at the Georg-August University of Göttingen , for which she received the DGFZ Dissertation Prize 2023. Since the beginning of 2025, Paula Reich has been working as a postdoc in the "Functional Breeding" department. Her current research focuses on various genomic analyses, particularly in the horse species, such as the investigation of the genomic background of quantitative traits and genotype imputation.
