The Institute of Methods and Methodological Principles in the Social Sciences (IMMS) is governed by two bodies: the Executive Board and the General Assembly of Members.

The members of the IMMS consist of its affiliated staff and four students enrolled in degree programmes in which the IMMS is involved. The General Assembly of Members discusses all matters of fundamental importance to the Institute and submits its views and recommendations on these matters to the Executive Board.

The IMMS is governed by its Executive Board. The Board consists of four representatives of the professional staff, as well as one representative each of the student groups the academic staff, and the technical and administrative staff (the latter group is referred to by the German abbreviation “MTV”, short for “Mitarbeitende in Technik und Verwaltung”).

The Executive Board elects an executive leadership team (a director and a deputy) from the group of professors. The executive leadership team chairs the Executive Board, prepares its resolutions, and implements them.

Further details are set out in the IMMS Regulations (Amtliche Mitteilungen I Ausgabe 30 (19.07.2022, edition in German).
