Prof. Dr. Gülay Çağlar

Gülay Çağlar is Professor of political science with a focus at gender and diversity at the Otto Suhr Institute of Political Science, Freie Universität Berlin. She studied political science and economics at Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt/M. and the University of Swansea, UK, and received her PhD from the University of Kassel. Professor Çağlar is Principal Investigator (PI) of the Cluster of Excellence “Contestations of the Liberal Scripts” (SCRIPTS) and co-speaker of the Research Unit “Borders”. She is the Program Director of the Master’s Program “Gender, Intersectionality and Politics”. In March 2023, she was appointed to the expert committee for the Fourth Report on Gender Equality of the German Federal Government, focusing on gender equality in socio-economic transformation. Her research interests include: gender politics in international governance, diversity politics in higher education, feminist political ecology, care and food politics, global south feminism(s).
