Paper accepted at ICIS 2025

Robot and Human working together

We are happy to announce that a paper from our chair has been accepted for this year’s International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS).

The Research-in-Progress paper outlines a study design aimed at examining how explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) can influence employees’ trust and engagement in AI-supported corporate learning systems. The idea addresses a challenge some organizations face: although AI-based learning platforms promise personalized and efficient delivery of learning content by recommending suitable courses, employees often respond to these recommendations with skepticism or a lack of trust. The proposed approach demonstrates how a design science research process can be applied to identify which explanation mechanisms effectively foster trust and user engagement.

We are particularly proud that the paper’s first author is a master’s student who developed the idea within the course “Masterclass: Crafting Valuable Ideas in Information Systems and Management” held by Prof. Adam. If you would like to develop your own innovative research ideas, the Masterclass will be offered again starting in the winter semester 2026/27—a great opportunity to work on your own research topics and gain valuable insights into academic work.

We are looking forward to presenting the paper together this December in Nashville!
