CCIS – Complexity, Information, Cognition, Society

Complexity, Information,
Cognition, Society (CCIS)

What we do

With a joint perspective on complexity, information and cognition, we investigate the emergence of societal dynamics.

About the Section

Within our "CCIS" section at the Campus Institute for Data Science, we connect research, teaching and knowledge transfer about societal dynamics. With our research, we investigate human interactions and the resulting societal dynamics using computational methods. We teach jointly at the interface between social sciences, psychology, statistics, neuroscience, and the physics of complex systems, building strongly on data science, especially when it comes to the analysis of our large datasets on human interactions — including data from social media as well as large-scale models and surveys. Based on these data and the strength of the Göttingen Campus in complex systems, data science, cognitive science, and democracy research, the CCIS serves as an integrating hub, where we jointly develop a fundamental understanding of social networks and societal dynamics.
