Intercultural Experience

Study theology in dialogue with the world, grow in community, discover new horizons!

One of the highlights of the M.A. in Intercultural Theology is the vibrant intercultural journey that accompanies academic study. From the very first semester, you will be part of an international community that lives, learns, and grows together.

Life in Community

Your intercultural experience begins in everyday moments: engaging in classroom discussions, spending time in communal spaces, cooking and sharing meals together, exploring Germany through walks, hikes, and trips, and taking your first steps in the German language and culture.

These experiences create bonds and friendships that last far beyond graduation.

Expanding Your Horizons

During your studies, you can broaden your intercultural perspectives through:

Semester Abroad → Join Erasmus and other exchange programs

Fieldwork → Conduct research at an institution or location of your choice

Internships → Connect your academic research with hands-on practice

Funding Opportunities

We know financing your intercultural journey matters. That’s why we guide students towards numerous funding options, including Erasmus, PROMOS, Stube BPSA, BAföG, and scholarships such as Brot für die Welt, which supports research trips abroad.

Where Our Students Have Gone

Over the past years, our students have spent two to five months abroad in Armenia, Belarus, Cameroon, China, Estonia, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Lebanon, Tanzania, the USA, and more. Others conducted projects within Germany, exploring intercultural theology in diverse organizations and communities.

We work closely with theological institutions around the world. These partnerships enable our students to immerse themselves in the theological traditions of different regions, gain new perspectives for their own research, and contribute to truly global academic dialogue. Below, you can see the examples of student projects and the list of institutions we have been consistently cooperating with.
